Born in Ganiyari village, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, she adopted the Kapalik style of Pandwani, where she would not only sing but also enact the stories of the Mahabharata.Her powerful voice and emotive performances made her unique.
She carved out her own space as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated art form and elevated it to new heights.
