According to officials, fire crews and the local administration brought the situation under control. The extent of the damage is being assessed, and the process of providing relief to affected families has begun.

The government said hospitals, markets, hotels and coaching centres in the city will be checked for fire-safety equipment and emergency exits, with action warned against premises found violating the norms.

Residents have demanded relief and a thorough inquiry. Officials said responsibility will be fixed once the investigation report is in, and steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in future.
