An important health development for a country battling dengue. According to reports, a Subject Expert Committee of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has approved the dengue vaccine "Qdenga" (TAK-003).
About the vaccine
- It is a tetravalent vaccine developed by Japan's Takeda
- Two doses are given three months apart
- Prior dengue infection is not required
- A safety and effectiveness study is required within six months of launch
