Late Friday evening, the weather took a sudden turn in several parts of Madhya Pradesh, leading to a severe storm in Indore and Mhow, while heavy rainfall was recorded in Ujjain and many other districts. This unexpected weather change significantly impacted daily life, especially in Dewas district, where seven people were injured after a wall collapsed.

The strong storm that swept through Indore and Mhow was so intense that it uprooted trees and damaged electricity poles in several locations, disrupting power supply in these areas. Local administration immediately initiated relief operations, but power could not be restored in many localities until late at night.

Ujjain, known for its religious significance, also experienced heavy rain. The rainfall led to waterlogging on roads and in low-lying areas. However, for farmers, this rain brought some relief, as it is considered favorable for the sowing of Kharif crops, provided it is not excessive.

Dewas district bore the brunt of the weather's fury, where an old wall collapsed due to strong winds and rain. Seven people were seriously injured in this incident and were immediately admitted to a local hospital. The condition of some of the injured is reported to be critical, and the administration is providing all possible assistance.

The meteorological department had already issued a warning for strong winds and rain in some districts for the next 24 hours, but the intensity of the storm exceeded expectations in many places. This is considered pre-monsoon activity, which is often observed in late June and early July.

In Rajgarh and Shajapur districts, where agriculture is the main livelihood, strong winds and rain have caused significant damage to standing crops. Particularly, early-sown Kharif crops have been adversely affected by this change. Farmers have demanded compensation from the government, as this represents a major economic loss for them.

Local agricultural experts suggest that if this rain continues for a few more days, it could be detrimental to crops, especially in areas without proper drainage systems. However, if it is just a short-term event, it will help in increasing soil moisture.

The administration has appealed to citizens to stay indoors during bad weather and avoid unnecessary travel. Electricity department and municipal corporation teams are continuously working to repair damaged infrastructure.

This incident once again highlights the need for robust infrastructure in both rural and urban areas to mitigate the impact of such natural disasters. Regular inspection and repair of old and weak structures are particularly essential.

According to the meteorological department, light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue in some parts of the state for the next few days, but the chances of severe storms are low. However, citizens have been advised to remain vigilant.

This is a crucial time for farmers as they prepare for the sowing of their Kharif crops. While this rain has helped prepare the soil for sowing in some areas, it has also raised concerns for farmers whose crops are in the early stages.

The state government has reviewed relief and rescue operations in the affected areas and instructed officials to provide immediate medical aid to the injured and assess crop damage to ensure appropriate compensation.

This unexpected weather change has not only disrupted urban life but has also deeply impacted the rural economy, which may face further challenges in the coming days.

Overall, the late Friday evening weather change in Madhya Pradesh brought a mixed experience – while it brought relief to some areas, it proved to be devastating for others.
