Small negligence in the monsoon turns into big bills — waterlogging, skids and rust all arrive together.
Before the rains
- Check tyre tread depth — worn tyres are most dangerous on wet roads
- Replace brake pads/shoes and wiper blades
- Check lights, horn and battery terminals
- Clean and lubricate the bike chain
During the rains
- Never enter water of unknown depth — water near the silencer/air intake = do not drive through
- If the vehicle stalls in water, do not restart — hydrolock can seize the engine; get it towed
- Slow down, double the gap — avoid aquaplaning
- Use the AC in defogger mode to keep glass clear
After the rains
- Get an underbody wash — mud is where rust begins
- Dry out under-mat dampness, check door rubber beading
- Check whether your insurance has the engine-protection add-on
